During the meeting, they discussed a variety of topics including the sanctions and measures related to the organisation of the press and the media issued recently by the Supreme Council for Media Organisation.
The discussions have revealed by the provisions of this regulation involve restrains on the freedom of opinion and expression and the freedom of press, whether, printed, visual or electronic press.
The Council noted that some of the provisions of the aforementioned regulations contradict with the constitution, as the Judicial Authority alone has the right to issue condemnation verdicts according to the law.
The Council believes that this regulation contradicts with the freedom of opinion and expression and urged to revise it and amend it to comply with the provisions of the law and the constitution.
